Back & Neck Pain Treatment in Mazgaon, Mumbai
Back pain and neck pain are among the most common reasons people visit an orthopaedic doctor. Long hours at a desk, heavy lifting, travel in local trains and poor sleeping posture all add strain to the spine. At Pain Cure Ortho & Rehab Clinic in Mazgaon, most spine problems are treated without surgery. Surgery is considered only in selected cases, after a detailed assessment.

Spine problems we treat
- Lower back pain (lumbar pain), with or without stiffness
- Neck pain (cervical pain), including pain spreading to the shoulder or arm
- Sciatica – pain, tingling or numbness travelling from the lower back down the leg. Read more on our Sciatica & Slip Disc page.
- Nerve pain from the spine, such as burning or tingling in the arms or legs
- Slip disc (disc bulge or herniation)
- Spine fractures after a fall or accident, and spinal deformity
Common causes of back and neck pain
- Poor posture while sitting, using a phone or working on a laptop
- Lifting heavy objects the wrong way
- Age-related wear of the spinal discs and joints
- A disc pressing on a nerve
- Weak core and back muscles
- Injury from a fall, accident or sport
When to see a spine specialist
Book a consultation if:
- Back or neck pain lasts more than 2–3 weeks
- Pain travels down the leg or arm, or you feel numbness or tingling
- You feel weakness in a leg, foot, arm or hand
- Pain wakes you up at night
- The pain started after a fall or accident
Seek urgent medical care if back pain comes with loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness around the private parts, or sudden weakness in both legs.
Spine treatment at Pain Cure Ortho
Every treatment plan starts with a clinical assessment to find where the pain is coming from. The focus is on non-surgical care wherever it is suitable.
Non-surgical treatment
- Robotic spine decompression – a non-surgical therapy that gently reduces pressure on the spine and discs
- Selective Nerve Root Block (SNRB) – a targeted injection near the irritated nerve to reduce nerve pain, done when the doctor finds it suitable
- Physiotherapy – core strengthening, posture correction and stretching, provided in-house at our Physiotherapy centre
- Posture and work-desk advice to prevent the pain from coming back
Minimally invasive spine surgery (selected cases only)
Surgery is not the first step. Minimally invasive spine surgery is considered only in selected cases, for example when non-surgical treatment has not helped enough or when the nerve is badly affected.
Spine stabilisation
For spinal fractures after an injury, or for spinal deformity, stabilisation surgery may be needed to support the spine and help recovery.
Recovery and rehab
Whether you are treated with or without surgery, in-house physiotherapy and Post-Operative Rehab help you return to work and daily life safely.

Frequently asked questions
Can back pain be treated without surgery?
Yes. Most back and neck pain improves with non-surgical treatment such as physiotherapy, spine decompression and posture correction. Surgery is needed only in selected cases.
What is robotic spine decompression?
It is a non-surgical therapy in which a machine gently stretches the spine in a controlled way. This aims to reduce pressure on the discs and nerves. Your doctor will tell you whether it is suitable for you.
What is an SNRB injection?
A Selective Nerve Root Block is an injection given near a specific irritated nerve to reduce pain from that nerve. It is advised only after assessment.
Is sciatica the same as slip disc?
Not exactly. Sciatica is the leg pain caused when a nerve in the lower back is irritated. A slip disc is one of the common causes of that irritation.
Should I rest in bed for back pain?
Long bed rest is usually not advised. Gentle movement and the right exercises often help recovery. Ask your doctor what is safe for your condition.
