Frozen Shoulder Treatment in Mazgaon, Mumbai
If your shoulder has become painful and stiff, and you find it hard to comb your hair, reach a high shelf or put your hand behind your back, you may have a frozen shoulder. It can be frustrating, but with the right treatment most people get back good shoulder movement. At Pain Cure Ortho & Rehab Clinic in Mazgaon, we treat frozen shoulder with guided physiotherapy and regular follow-up.
What is frozen shoulder?
Frozen shoulder (also called adhesive capsulitis) happens when the tissue around the shoulder joint becomes thick, tight and inflamed. This causes pain and slowly limits how much you can move the shoulder.
The three stages of frozen shoulder
- Freezing stage – pain increases and shoulder movement slowly becomes less
- Frozen stage – pain may reduce, but the shoulder stays very stiff
- Thawing stage – movement gradually comes back
Without treatment, this whole process can take many months. Treatment aims to control pain and help you regain movement sooner.
Symptoms
- Dull or aching pain in the shoulder, sometimes spreading to the upper arm
- Stiffness that makes it hard to lift the arm or turn it outward
- Difficulty with daily tasks like dressing, combing hair or reaching behind the back
- Pain that is often worse at night, especially when lying on that side
Who is more likely to get it?
- People aged 40 to 60
- Women are affected more often than men
- People with diabetes or thyroid problems
- People whose shoulder was kept still for a long time after an injury, fracture or surgery
When to see a doctor
See a doctor if shoulder pain and stiffness last more than 2–3 weeks, or if you cannot do daily tasks with that arm. Other conditions, such as rotator cuff problems, can feel similar, so a proper examination is important.

Frequently asked questions
How long does frozen shoulder last?
It can last many months, sometimes longer, if left untreated. With regular physiotherapy and exercises, most people see steady improvement.
Should I rest my shoulder?
Complete rest can make stiffness worse. Gentle, guided movement is usually better. Your physiotherapist will show you safe exercises.
Can frozen shoulder come back?
It usually does not return in the same shoulder, but the other shoulder can be affected in some people.
Is frozen shoulder linked to diabetes?
Yes, people with diabetes are more likely to develop frozen shoulder. Keeping blood sugar under control is important for your overall health.
Will I need surgery?
Most people recover without surgery. Other options are considered only if the shoulder does not improve after proper treatment.
